چکیده
Health risks caused by exposure to black carbon (BC) and nanoparticles (NP) are well studied, although no standard currently exists for them worldwide. Exposure children may lead serious health effects due their increased vulnerability longer time spend inside the classrooms, making it important assess factors that affect air quality in preschools. Thus, this work aims evaluate indoor-outdoor (I/O) relationships of NPs 10–420 nm range, BC volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at rural urban preschools (aged 3–5 years) between May 2016 July 2017. Factorial analysis was applied identify possible emission sources. Prior communalities were estimated squared multiple correlations with all other variables. We used varimax rotation method criterion factor selection number eigenvalues greater than one. Results indicate NP 4- 3.2-times higher outdoor traffic emissions, respectively. Highest concentrations occurred during rush hours pickup children. In school, directly related accumulation mode (N49-205), while area, local particles from pulp industries regional background. Nucleation (N11-36) emissions school secondary formation particles. Mean I/O ratios (0.54; 0.51) (0.71; 0.91) schools, respectively, suggested outdoors. VOCs indoor (I/O = 1.97) 2.22) sites, indicating these pollutants generated inside, regardless or sites. These findings suggest necessity improving ventilation commuting styles lower around environments.

Indoor-outdoor Relationships of Carcinogenic Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Portuguese Preschools
Children represent one of the most vulnerable groups in society. The detailed characterization of pollution (both indoors and outdoors) of schools is of great importance, since it may allow preventing potential risks to children health. Yet the information related to carcinogenic compounds, such as some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in child educational settings is very limited. Thus ...
متن کاملOutdoor, Indoor, and Personal Exposure to VOCs in Children
We measured volatile organic compound (VOC) exposures in multiple locations for a diverse population of children who attended two inner-city schools in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Fifteen common VOCs were measured at four locations: outdoors (O), indoors at school (S), indoors at home (H), and in personal samples (P). Concentrations of most VOCs followed the general pattern O approximately equal to...
متن کاملPrediction of outdoor and outdoor-to-indoor coverage in urban areas at 1.8 GHz
A run-time efficient three-dimensional radio propagation prediction model is presented in this paper. The model allows mobile network operators to predict the outdoor and the outdoor-to-indoor coverage in dense urban areas using one general prediction model. It integrates almost all relevant propagation phenomena in dense urban areas with an accuracy comparable to the results of dedicated predi...
متن کاملRelationships among Indoor, Outdoor, and Personal Airborne Japanese Cedar Pollen Counts
Japanese cedar pollinosis (JCP) is an important illness caused by the inhalation of airborne allergenic cedar pollens, which are dispersed in the early spring throughout the Japanese islands. However, associations between pollen exposures and the prevalence or severity of allergic symptoms are largely unknown, due to a lack of understanding regarding personal pollen exposures in relation to ind...
متن کاملDistributions of Volatile Organic Compounds (vocs) in Indoor and Outdoor Air among Industrial, Urban and Suburban Neighborhoods
This paper presents results of a comprehensive survey conducted to better understand concentrations and spatial variations of indoor and outdoor concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in industrial, urban and suburban neighborhoods. Three cities, representing these types of neighborhoods in Michigan, USA were selected, and 30 to 50 homes were selected in each city. Duplicate or tri...
